Morning Announcements

May 21, 2012

Congratulations to Kelly Letourneau and Olivia Dufault for winning TAMY Awards at yesterday's GALA at Mt. Wachusett Community College for their performances in "Thoroughly Modern Millie."  Out of 17 nominees Olivia won a Not Your Average Chorus Member Award.  Kelly Letourneau won Best Actress for her role as Millie.  Considering that 23 schools participated in the competition, her win is really extraordinary!  Bravo Kelly!

Congratulations to the dodge ball champions Jimmer Time!  Defending Champs Watson's Crew followed up in a strong second place.  Thank you and great job to all of the teams who played.

Congratulations to members of Wachusett United Nations who organized and debated in the Harry Potter Conference at WRHS this weekend.  Emily Tomcyzk was recognized as outstanding newcomer.  Sam Korstevdt and Claire Robbins were named distinguished delegates, while Cori Welch was awarded the Best delegate gavel.  Special thinks to Ian Roache who chaired the committee.

Sophomores:  Pick up your Six Flags permission slips in Mrs. Lapierre's office (B103).

Dig Volleyball?  Dig Purple!  Come to the boys volleyball match tonight against BVT and support the Testicular Cancer Society.  $3 or $2 if you wear purple.  There will be live music and the girls varsity team will take on some of your favorite teachers.  JV starts at 4, varsity at 6.

Echo editors will meet today at 2:15 in room C206.  We will be done by 3 p.m.

Freshman Ben Amaral pitched a complete game no-hitter on Saturday to lead the JV baseball team to a 3-0 win over Holy Name.  The offense was led by Amaral and Camran Gow, each having two hits and an RBI.  The team is now 9 and 8 on the season and will travel to Milford today.

The sophomores are taking the MCAS Math exam today and tomorrow in White House classrooms.  Testing will last the first 3 periods of the day.  White House freshmen classes have been reassigned, and students should not be traveling through the White House while testing is going on.  Good luck to all sophomores.

Its time for the Bookmark Design Contest.  Students from Ms. Ranson's Graphic Communications I class created bookmarks with a message.  They are located outside the Media Center door.  The 4 winning bookmarks will be made into real bookmarks.  Vote at the circulation desk by May 23.

Mountaineer Volunteers:  We are holding elections for next year's officers at our next meeting which is today after school.  Please try to attend.  Mrs. Paradise is even baking cookies for you all.

There will be a mandatory meeting of the Anime Club after school today in room C108.  We will be choosing officers for next year and having an end of year party for the seniors.  Bring food!

Spanish Honor Society:  T-shirts are in and may be picked up from Señora Morgan or Señora Dubzinski.

Important Information for Seniors:

Please be aware that graduation tickets will not be given to any senior who owes money or materials to the school.  Possible obligations include transcript fees, negative balances in the cafeteria, books or fines at the media center, parking tickets, missing locks on lockers, unpaid lab fees, Athletic team fees, missing textbooks, AP testing fees and d-halls.  Please check with the various departments and settle these debts in a timely manner.
