Athletics - Mountview offers a wide variety of athletic opportunities to our students.  Announcements will be made over the PA and at lunch regarding tryout days and times.  When possible, tryout times will be posted on the "This Week's Events" page and on the "Today's Announcements" page.  Tryouts, practices, and games/meets run later than 4:15, so students would need to make arrangements for their own transportation home.  There is a $70 athletic fee per student, per sport, (with the excpetion of JV track which costs $35). This payment is due to Mr. McCarthy once your child makes the team and is required prior to the start of regular practices.  In order to participate in sports at Mountview, students must have a green card filled out and on file with the school.  Students need a new green card each year.

In the fall, we have boys' soccer, girls' soccer, girls' field hockey, and track (click here for Mr. Paradis' track information page).  Tryouts for these teams happen right within the first few days of school, as teams need to be set for early games.

In the winter, we offer boys' and girls' basketball as well as cheerleading for girls.  These tryouts generally begin around mid to late November.  Again, students will need to listen carefully to announcements for tryout days and times.  We will do our best to keep these times posted on our website as well.  Games begin in January, usually right after the December break, and run through February vacation.  Playoffs and cheerleading competitions take place after February vacation.

In the spring, we offer boys' baseball and girls' softball. Tryouts for these sports begin in late March or early April, and games begin when the fields are dry enough for play.

The Kids in the Kommunity is a group sponsored by the generosity of Mountview and the PTA. The group is made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and meets approximately once a month before school. The community events also take place approximately once a month. Currently, there are two chapters of this group operating under the Kids in the Kommunity name. There is one group for 6th graders which Lisa Hughes and Bob Champlin supervise, and one group for 7th and 8th graders which Ashley Eydenberg, Claudia Eddy, and Bob Champlin supervise. Occasionally, the groups will work together. Past events include painting and cleaning parks and historic sites, cooking dinner for shelters, and visiting nursing homes to mention a few. Please contact Mr. Champlin for enrollment into this group. All are welcomed!Mathletes - Mathletes is a competitive math team that meets weekly at Mountview.  Practices are every Monday after school from 3:00-4:00.  This team is facilitated by Mr. Scott Hill and Mrs. Lisa O'Connor.  For more information on this team, please see the Mathletes' page on "teacher page.

School Musical - Each year, PTA sponsors a schoolwide musical production.  This year, auditions will take place sometime in December after school.  Prior to those audition dates, students will be given information on what to do to prepare for the audition as well as a specific audition time. Play practices will begin in January and run through the production dates in March.  This is a big commitment on the part of the participants, but it is a lot of fun!  We will also need responsible students to sign up for backstage crew.  We will put a call out at lunch in early February for those interested in helping out backstage.

Alden Research Lab Group - This is a great club for students interested in science.  Mr. Boisselle facilitates this group which traditionally meets in the spring.  Listen for announcements on the PA for meeting dates and times.

Ski Club -  Ski Club is run by Mr. John Boyce.  Pamphlets with information will be available to students in November.  In ski club, students take buses each Monday between December and February breaks (6 Mondays in total) to Wachusett Mountain to ski and snowboard. Students are picked up at Mountview at 3:00pm and return to Mountview at 7:00pm for parent pick up.  Please note that this program is not run or sponsored by Mountview Middle School.

Performing Music Groups - Mountview has several performance-based music groups, including Concert Chorus at each grade level, Small Chorus, Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band at each grade level, and String Orchestra.  These groups rehearse during activity periods and after school.  Rehearsal schedules are posted outside the music classrooms and will be updated as often as possible on our website.  Students are also offered opportunities to perform and compete at the Quabbin Valley Musica Festival and through Central Districts.

Dance Classes - Dance classes are offered by Paul Lameroux beginning in September. Information is mailed to parents in August regarding these classes.
