Davis Hill Fifth Grade


In the fifth grade organization and decision-making are practiced to develop more independent study skills. Note taking, outlining, research/projects using a variety of reference materials. Students will have approximately 40-50 minutes of homework per night.

General Curriculum

    Language Arts
    Letter writing, parts of speech, descriptive paragraph writing, word processing for written work

    Mathematics
    Add/Subtract through millions, multiply/divide multi-digit factors and divisors, geometry, perimeter/area, measurement, decimals and decimal operations, fractions and fraction operations, problem solving

    Social Studies
    United States history from colonial exploration to 1812 – early explorers, colonization, American Revolution, geography

    Science
    Ecosystems, earth surface, earthquakes/volcanoes, rocks/minerals, matter and energy
