Dear Parents:
A Shelter in Place Drill procedure is used when an emergency circumstance dictates that students remain in place and do not exit the classrooms. Teaching continues as "normal". The purpose is for hallways to be free of students. This procedure allows for groups of students to be moved at different times and for confidentiality of students and staff to be maintained in the event of an emergency.
This procedure differs from a Lockdown, wherein there are heightened security measures put into place. In this procedure, in addition to rooms being secured, doors are locked, windows are covered and students are moved to the furthest corner of the room, away from doors and windows (remaining absolutely quiet). When a school is put into a lockdown, parents would be notified and kept up to date as to the progress of what is taking place.
If you have any further questions, please contact me or Mrs. Bourassa, the Assistant Principal at the school, 508-886-0073. Thank you.

**Please remember to save your Box Tops for Education and turn them in to the Central Tree Office. We can earn cash for our school that goes directly into our Student Activity Fund. This fund helps to support some of our special activities at Central Tree such as fieldtrips and enrichment programs, so please remember to support it!
About CTMS:
Central Tree Middle School opened its doors to students in the fall of 1998 and looks forward to providing a superior education to all the students who pass through its halls.
Central Tree Middle School's mission is to develop a program to effectively implement the curriculum of the Wachusett Regional School District while providing an effective middle school program that meets the needs of diverse learners, provides appropriate student services, and ensures a safe learning environment. Use the links to the left and right to access important information about our school.
When sending any notes to the office: please print your student's first and last name. Students and parents frequently have different last names and parent signatures are sometimes difficult to read. We want to avoid any confusion and be sure we know which student you are referring to.
Make up Homework: Homework requests are not done until a student has been absent for three days. Please request the homework when you call you child in sick on the morning of the third day. Many teachers post assignments on their websites, so it is a good idea to check there first whenever your child is absent.
Bus Issues: In the event that the bus is late, parents should contact McCarthy Bus dispatch to find out the reason directly. The phone number is (800) 483-1669.
